Everything That Is Wrong With Love Island 2018

Okay so I’m one of those “sad” people that have been watching this years Love Island. Don’t get me wrong, I normally wouldn’t be ashamed of my guilty pleasures but this years season has just been awful! Like, I can’t believe I’ve still sat and watched every episode. Lets all just say what we’re thinking out loud; Love Island hit its peak last year and will never be as great.

  • They’ve taken away the smoking area which I guess is good as it “promoted” smoking but come on! That’s where all the gossip used to take place! Now they can go outside the villa one at a time to smoke.
  • Its reality TV, we all know it’s staged but we don’t like to notice how staged it actually is and this year it’s literally been shoved into our faces. Every evictee has come and mentioned how staged it all is, surely it should be in their contracts not to talk about all that?
  • They don’t really show the “woohoo” moments anymore like Sam and Frankie’s time in the hideaway or anything like that. We’ve pretty much only seen what Megan is up to. If they showed what everyone was doing then Megan wouldn’t have gotten as much hate as she did.
  • Way too much product placement. Its like looking through the Missguided website and not being able to close the page.
  • Adam.
  • The producers and editors have left out way too much. I recently watched a video with loads of cut out footage like games and chats between islanders and honestly they were so funny I don’t get why they didn’t make it to the final cut of the show. It showed the contestants in a different light and showed how funny they actually are.
  • We found out this year that the contestants have a day off where they leave the villa and probably just hang out somewhere else and we miss all the gossip from that. I always thought they had to stay in the villa at all times. What’s next? Big Brother contestants aren’t really in the house the whole time either?
  • They’ve manipulated with the way views vote. What happened to Megan? She literally disappeared off the screen for a few days and turned out not to be most hated anymore. They’ve only been showing people that will get a response from the viewers so the voting goes the way the producers want.
  • Some contestants knew each other from the outside but never mentioned knowing each other. Alexandra has photos with Kaz and Megan!
  • They had the same games, challenges and activities as last season. Come on, get a bit more imaginative.
  • The final week was rushed! In the last few episodes they’ve literally had like a challenge or event each day and the meet the parents episode was the day before the final??!? They should have spread it out a bit more. Why was it so rushed?

All in all I am so disappointed in this years series and I’m sure I’m not the only one!

11 Days Around Croatia

Long-time no see old friends. I know it’s been a while… since Valentine ’s Day in fact but now I’m back and hopefully for good!

Last month I went on an 11 day trip to Croatia and I thought it was time to actually tell you guys about some parts of it as I know Croatia is a popular destination this year.

Our first stop was Dubrovnik for 5 nights. We stayed in a little town called Mlini which is a quick boat or bus ride away from Dubrovnik old town. I highly recommend staying someone just outside the main town as it is so much cheaper! We stayed in Villa Adriatic Rooms  which was a cute family run bed and breakfast. It wasn’t too far from the airport so we thought we’d take a taxi but now we know that we should have gotten them to pick us up as the taxi left us at the bottom of the hill whereas the staff would have been able to take us a back route to the top meaning we wouldn’t have had to carry all our bags up so many flights of stairs in the heat! We had a cute little room but spent a lot of time poolside and on the terrace.

We decided to take a boat trip to the three islands for a day and word of warning make sure you research properly before you jump on a boat. We paid 250 per person for a whole day with drinks and food included and some people on our boat had paid 600 per person! You board the boat in the morning and stop off at each island, the first is 45 minutes, the second is 30 minutes and the third is of course the best place and you’re on the island for over 2 hours. The first island was Kolocep which was very small but you could follow a trail and end up on the other side where there was a nice little beach but we didn’t think we had time to go there and come back so we just sat at the harbour and enjoyed the view. Our second stop was Sipan and this time we ventured out a little bit more but again not too far as we wouldn’t have had enough time to come back.

Our final stop was Lopud. Literally the cleanest waters I have ever seen! It had the type of beach where you could get into the water and walk and walk and it only come up to your knees. It was also the only sand beach we had seen. I really didn’t want to leave. I would say that one of the downsides of this boat trip was that the journey back was just so long in burning sunlight. I never burn and I could feel my shoulders burning!

dubrovnik 4

During our time in Dubrovnik we visited the old town only once, we had planned to go a few times to take some nice photos however my back went out and I knew I wouldn’t be able to hack all the hills and stairs. The one day that we did go though I thought it was really nice, not as crazy busy as people made it out to be. However, if you do plan on having dinner there I do recommend a restaurant on the side streets and the ones on the main strips are ridiculously expensive for what they are.

We took a coach to Split which took just over 4 hours and a heads up to anyone who does this, make sure you have your passport as you enter and leave Bosnia (which takes about ten minutes) to get to the other side of Dubrovnik. Split was completely different to what I had expected; it was a proper tourist town full of teenagers out on their holidays with their mates. We were only staying here for a night so it wasn’t so bad just to make the trip to Zadar a lot easier. We stayed in Adriatic Hostel and the staff were amazing, they let us go up to the roof to watch the sunset.

We went out to get lost in the town and ended up at the end of the harbour in a cute little Italian restaurant which again was a lot cheaper than the ones on the strip and a lot breezier in fact. Our coach in the morning was pretty early and which was okay as our hostel was a few minutes’ walk away. If you do travel by coach I would book the tickets online as its much cheaper than getting them in person. The coaches aren’t actually bad to travel in, they do a lot of stops for you to walk about and have aircon!

In Zadar we stayed in our own little villa at Villa Gravic and honestly it was where I was most comfy and relaxed. The lady that owns the apartments was THE most helpful person I’ve ever met. She helped us with our bags, how to get around Zadar, where to shop, where to get the best ice-cream, what times old town would look the best for photos, airport transfers, MEDICINE FOR MY BACK AND ARM (I got bitten by a spider on our last night and my arm swelled up like crazy). Our villa had our bedroom, bathroom living, living room, balcony and kitchen overlooking the sea meaning we got some amazing sunsets!

zadar 2

The building also had its gym and outdoor swimming pool which is where I spent most of my time. Zadar old town was about a ten minute bus ride away and this is where the famous sea organ is located (another great spot to watch the sunset). I’d say Zadar was the perfect place to end our trip it was such a chill little town and so much cheaper than the other two towns we had visited. If you wanted a beach, they had a beach, if you wanted shopping they had stores, if you wanted something exciting they had daily tours to the national parks.

zadar 1

If I could go back I think I would go and just visit as many islands as I could and visit the national park which was our original plan until my back started acting up. So hopefully I can go back again and visit Montenegro and Bosnia properly too. If you have any more questions or anything feel free to ask away! I hope this helped.
